I am a licensed direct-entry midwife in the state of Montana. I have a wonderful husband and I am the mother of 2 beautiful daughters ages 9 and 11 and our a son, Buddy is 2.  . Our first was born at home. Our second daughter was born in the hospital because of complications necessitating transfer from home during labor.

I began my midwifery academics and apprenticeship in the state of Montana in 1997. I worked simultaneously with four different midwives during my apprenticeship. These included both direct-entry midwives and certified nurse midwives.

I moved to Columbia Falls, Montana in 2001 from Billings, Montana.  I started my own practice in Columbia Falls upon relocating to the area. I have attended over 225 births. I really enjoy offering women the opportunity of a choice of where to give birth. The choices we offer include home birth or birthing at The Midwifery Place, a freestanding birth facility in Columbia Falls that is in my home.   It has 2 birth rooms, one with a birth pool for water births.

We have plans on building a brand-new facility in the near future right next door to my home.

Melissa Brake and I started working together in 2001.  Melissa is the mother of 5 children  of which the last four were home births.  She has just taken her midwifery exam and will be fully licensed by the Summer of 2006

The requirements that we have for home births is that they be within ½ hour of a suitable medical facility.
